I AM NEEDING A GOOD RED WINE FOR A CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR MY GIRLFRIENDS PARENTS. THEY ARE FAIRLY FAMILAR WITH WINES BUT I HAVE NO IDEA! PERHAPS SOMETHING WITHIN THE $75-$100 DOLLAR PRICE RANGE WITH A SOMEWHAT HIGH SCORE. THANK Y0U, CJ

Hi C. Jordan, and welcome to the Wine Board. Guess you know you asked a very gereral question. The first follow up is, do you need one that could be drunk at Christmas, or something they could lay down for ten years or so. When you are talking about a red wine that you want to spend that much money, it is a very important question.
An excellent wine that is ready to drink is 1994 Simi Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve. You can get it from a dealer in New York for $45.00, so you could get two bottles on your budget. Go to: www.wine-searcher.com for details, or look for it in Atlanta.
If you want to get them something to lay down, buy them a future on 2000 Bordeaux which will released next year. At this point, you should be able to get them two or three 2000 Chateau Lagange Saint Julian on your budget.
Both of my recommendations are highly recommended, and printed in lower case.
