What are the best recommended Chilean or Argentinian Wines?.
I'm looking for dry, red, smooth wines.

I don't drink any high end wines from those areas, just everyday drinkers. I'd recommend trying Santa Alica, both their merlot and their cabernet sauvignon can usually be had for under $10.

Have had several very nice malbecs from the Mendoza region of Argentina. Have not found any producers that made a dog. Trapiche sells one for around $8 and others range up to $13 or $14.

Ardines, welcome. Casa Lapostolle and the Casa Lapostolle Cuvee Alexander Merlots are very good from Chile as well as the Concha Y Toro Don Melchor Cabs. Also from Chile is Viu Manent which I enjoy for their Malbec.

Also look for Flichman Malbec--real good.

Right on Foodie! I didn't want to let the secret out but it's mighty good and cheap. I found some 96's recently for $8...great stuff!!
