i am a full time student for 9 months of the year and thought it'd be fun to take a break this summer and work at a winery. but i have no idea where to start. does anyone have any suggestions?

This is not meant as a smart remark but if I was you why not start with your favorite bottle of wine and call them to see how you would go about getting out there and start working.

Looking for summer winery work? Try the Finger Lakes wine region of New York. Over 50 wineries located there and almost all are looking for summer help--tour guides, cellar work, vineyard work, restaurants, etc.
