I need help with choosing a wine to give as a present to someone he likes his wines and knows way more about it than i do. I dont mind which one either red or white or the price either, just looking for a nice wine i guess. I know my question is very general and broad but any suggestions

Hi Mike, and welcome to the Wine Board. It is difficult to go wrong with Champagne unless the recipient, like my wife, can't handle carbonation. Barring that, go to a reputable retailer and ask for a nice Champagne at the price point you are willing to shell out. Recommend $40 as a starting point.

thanks heaps for the advice, what if they dont like champagne though, kinda like ur wife hehe is there another alternative?

Almost anything else would be riskier, here is an alternative: Meursault - a white Burgundy.

sorry but why would anything else be risky?

Because Champagne is the most universally accepted wine. Therefore anything else is riskier in regard to recipiant appreciation.
