Ok, went to my first wine tasting this evening, which was (C)Champagnes.

Only one name I remember to be honest with you, is one called Henriot or something like that.

Think I may have irritated some of the folk there with my basic and "newbie" descriptions of these beverages.

I said the first one(Henriot or the like)reminded me of a berry flavored sweet tart(and it did dangit, hung around on the sides of my tongue forever).

Then I said the "yeast" smell and flavor of another one, reminded me more of wood, and stickin a twig in my mouth...guess it wasn't the prettiest description(could tell by the look on some faces) but hey, I'm new and I thought I was supposed to say what I got from it.....

Shoulda I justa keept me mouth shut?

Anyway, bottom line, no offense to those who like it, but I decided other than special occasions, it ainta for meee taste. An if I feel like bubbly in the meantime, I'll blow bubbles in me Zin with a straw.

Cadell if the members of the group were ofended by your comments then they're idiots. That's what a tastings about.....what do you taste in this juice? Kepp going and tasting and describing EXACTLY what your buds say. If it tastes like cats' pee, so be it. It's your palate and you know what it know and only you! WW

...of course, in order to say it tasted like cat's pee one must have tasted cat's pee for reference...

Cadell, your descriptions sound fine to me, however, you are writing off sparkling wine and I ain't glad to hear that. Try some Prosecco (look for Bellenda Brut) or maybe a Spanish Cava (Cristalino Brut) or, if you can find it, a fine Finger Lakes sparkler (Glenora makes great Brut and Blanc de Blancs).

*looks around to make sure WW ainta lookin or listenin *....

Foodie,I am not saying that I am writing off SW's or sparkling's completely...

Although the selection from last night was rather disappointing to my taste buddies,
I will try more, but in general between previous experience and last night,I find that sparklings are not something which I could sit down with daily or weekly and just sip on. Although I did have a preference for da one that tasted like a sweet tart candy above the other 5 tasted.

That said, I have been checkin on ur webber site, and I am going to try a Finger Lakes, but 1.just can't decide where I wanna start. 2.kinda wanna wait til it cools down a bit before havin anything shipped to me.

Cadell, as Foodie says, don't rite off the entire realm of champagnes because of some bad stuff.Champagnes are some of the most festive and fascinating of all the SW's but at the time of consumption, there 'haint nuttin' that is as gratifying. Love the bubblies. You'll find many that you'll love too. WW
