- steveo67 - 08-04-2006 im looking for a few bottles of 97 harlen estate if anyone can aid me in my search it would be greatly apprecaited. - Kcwhippet - 08-04-2006 Good luck. It's pretty much not available at retail at a reasonable price. You might try www.winesearcher.com (up to $1200 per bottle) www.winecommune.com www.winebid.com - Bucko - 08-04-2006 After tasting a 10-year vertical, including the 97, I wouldn't pay $30 for it. I was quite disappointed, as were most people at the tasting. - RyanH - 08-05-2006 That's the third time I've seen reference to a "vertical" What does that term mean? - brappy - 08-05-2006 Vertical = The same wine year after year.... IE: Harlen 91, 92 ,93, 94 ,95 ,etc. Even two wines can be a mini vertical. I don't know how the bottle Bucko had was, but the '97 Harlen I had was beautiful. The fruit was youthful and could have aged for another 10 yrs. I wouldn't pay $1200 for a bottle but it is was a kick-a$$ bottle of juice. I think we could all push you into a great bottle of cab/meritage for that year. But there is no reason to spend that kind of money to do it. If you're made of money, so be it; if not, I'll be more than happy to assist in picking out and finding something wonderful. Good luck, mark |
