Could someone help this wine novice with a red wine suggestion to accompany chicken cacciatore. Thanks

Chianti, Refosco, Barbera D'Asti or Alba, Salice Salentino or Copertino.

Good choices. I suggest a chianti, such as Placido or Piccini. Both are inexpensive.

If you find the Copertino (Cantine Sociale), try it with the dish -- it's a tasty, unusual wine from the southern Italy (Puglia) made from mostly Negroamaro with a dash of some Malvasia Nero. It's earthy and full of deep, prune-like fruit, with enough acidity to do the job.

I love the stuff!

Right on, Foodie!
