- LilMissHouston - 06-24-2002 Oh my...I am so uneducated in wines...I have a friend who mentioned Haven's 1997 Merlot to be a favorite and I wanted to send a bottle as a gift. However, I don't know which one to buy! I found Haven's 1997 Merlot Carneros Reserve for around $32 and Haven's 1997 Bourriquot Napa Valley Red for about $100. Please, what is the difference (besides the obvious price )between the Carneros and the Bourriquot?!? Thank you in advance for your help!! - winoweenie - 06-25-2002 Hi LMB and welcome to the board The Bourriquot is what is known as a proprietory blend comprised mainly of cabernet. The Carneros Merlot will definately do the trick. Send us the date of the big day.
