Another newbie question. Is there a proper way to hold your glass, and drink your wine? I am starting from the bottom here, and these are the questions I have! haha!

Hi Brooke and a belated welcome to the board. The important thing is to make sure the glass remains upright and held firmly enough that falling and breaking is NOT an option. WW

Well then Verne, the proper way to drink wine in your case, would require one other person to hold you firmly so you remain upright to prevent falling and breaking while drinking wine. ...

Looks like Brook has a bad case of the hic-ups. Doesn't go well with drinking wine. Could cause you to spill your wine. And wasting good wine is a bad thing.

Look's like your doing pretty good there Brooke!

Helpful hint:

Always pour the wine into the big, round, end of the glass with the opening in it. It will hold a lot more wine than the small dimple under the flat, round end at the end of the long, skinny stem. Using that end will, however, help limit your consumption!

So, are you sorry you asked yet, Brooke?

No-not a dumb question. There's a lot of hype out there about wine glasses. In other threads on this board, the general sense has been that, unless you're drinking very high-end stuff, it doesn't matter too much.

- Kcwhippet - 04-14-2003

This could lead to a very long discussion, but I do think it makes a difference what type of glass you use for particular wines, whether they're high end or not.
