i just bought a 2001 beringer private reserve cab im wondering wheather to age this wine or as my wineshop steward said (this gem is ready to drink now) what do you think? he also said this wine scored 96 pts by r parker.

I'd give it another three or four, but if you don't have a place to store it, go ahead and pop it. If it is still closed up tight, dump the remains over your retailer's head.
