Hello, I am new to wine and am like "sweet" drinks can anyone provide me with a name of a great bottle of a sweet/bubbly wine? Thanks

Hi Michele, and welcome to Wine Board. Try an Asti Spumante. Martini & Rossi is a reliable brand for around $10.

Hello,

Cani is a sweet wine and not expensive....probably about 5.00. Enjoy!

*Takes notes.* Hm... Cani... Got it... *puts notebook in pocket* I'll make sure to remember that... Just six more years and I can sample that myself...

Hi Michele, I don't know if you have it where your at but My wife and I prefer Reunite Lambrusco. We are trying other brands now but have found nothing that compares with it.

Hi Michele,
If you are looking for a sweet dry wine to have a dinner or just to slip, I recommend that you look into the wines of Alsace. The are not very easly to find in America. You should try a Tokay Pinot Gris or a nice Gerwers. They have a pleasant ffruity sweet nose with some acid and a very sweet fruity taste that is bone dry at the finish. I recommend the wines of Zind Humdrecth (?). My wife and I have been drinking these a years. Good luck Ray Hom

I especially like the wines from Alsace, their last harvest of the season is the Auslese (that isnt spelled right, maybe the moderator could help there). However, this picking has the most sugar and the sweetest taste. Try it.

Hi Winer and welcome to the Wine Board. Auslese is a German term for a grape with heavy sweetness. Most German rieslings designated Auslese are sweet, but it is possible the make them dry. Look out, if you are looking for sweetness, for the words Troken or Halbtroken on the label. They indicate dryness.

In Alsace most wine is vintified dry. Late harvest riesling is designated Vendange Tardive (can be made dry or sweet, usually sweet) and Selection des Grains Nobles (SGN) which is a dessert wine and always very sweet. Wines with both of these special designations are very expensive.
