Hi Everyone-

I have a case of MARILYN MERLOT Wine.
I bought it from Cost Plus when it was first issued. The case has been opened but the original bottles are all still in there.

The bottles are in their original conditions.
The conditions vary as that's the way they were in the case.

Any help would be appreciated!!

LitMiss Welcome to the board. The wines' value as far as it's drinking pleasure is Zero. This was, and still is, a mediocre wine that is merchandised with the use of Marilyns name to get 10 bucks a bottle. It has long since past into the ole' vinegar bucket in the sky. My suggestion is to list it on E-Bay and see if some sucker wants to buy it for the curiosity factor. Stranger things have happened. Even for the great producers in Napa and Sonoma, 1989 was one of the worst years in the past 2 decades. WW

It must be the bottle that all the value is.
I have sold two bottles of this wine for $500 a piece through Ebay already. I thought maybe I could find out how much the case would be worth.
Thanks for your opinion. )

The wine has a cult collector's value. I had one bottle in the cellar (a gift) and traded it to a local shop for two valuable bottles of wine. Go figure.....

BTW, E-Bay does not allow the sale of alcohol.

Bucko, ebay has a very confusing alcohol sales policy.

Here's what they say.
eBay Policy:
Due to the many difficulties inherent in Internet alcohol sales, eBay will not permit the listings of wine, beer and other alcoholic beverages on its website.

Then they say this.
eBay Policy:
There may be instances where the particular collectible container is unopened and still contains an alcoholic beverage. The sale of collectible containers will be permitted so long as each of the following are met:
The value of the auctioned item is in the collectible container, not its contents. Thus, bottles of wine are not permitted because their value is based on the wine in the bottle, and not the bottle itself.
The auction description should state that the container has not been opened, but that any incidental contents are not intended for consumption.
The item must not be available at any retail outlet, and the container must have a value that substantially exceeds the current retail price of the alcohol in the container.
Sellers should take steps to ensure that the buyer of these collectibles is of lawful age in the buyer and seller's jurisdiction (generally 21 years old). Buyers and sellers must ensure that the sale complies with all applicable laws and shipping regulations in carrying out the transaction.

eBay is, however, a forum for the sale of alcohol-related collectibles, including alcohol-related memorabilia, packaging and containers such as bottles, decanters or limited edition cans (provided you comply with the above policies), which are not subject to the same legal constraints.

Exception: Select sellers on eBay Premier and Live Auctions are permitted to sell wine. These listings will appear on the eBay

You must state in you description that it is being sold for the bottle as a collectible and not the contents or something to that effect.
