Can anyone recommend some good wine books to purchase for someone getting started in wines... other than those such as "wine tasting for dummies, etc..."
thanx

What's wrong with Wine for Dummies? It's a great reference book for beginners and above. Many of the experts here have the book, and they aren't dummies. However, if you have something against a wine book with Dummies in the title you could take a look at Wine Tasting Made Simple by Andrea Immer or The Wine Bible by Karen McNeil-Fife.

I have to agree. I'm still getting my feet wet in the world of wine. I thought Wine of Dummies was a excellent guide for the beginner. It holds a proud place on my shelf.

Agree with all comments posted above. If you HAVE to have a different beginners guide, look for the book from the 101 Essential Tips series on Wine by our own Tom Stevenson. It costs five bucks and has ISBN 0-7894-1464-3. Ms Immer has a new book out available from Amazon. It is called, "Wine Buying Guide For Everyone." I have it on order, but don't know what level it is aimed at. Once I get it, will post a review.
