Hi Everyone,
I've been drinking wine for years, but have realized I really don't know much certain things, like why does my wine glass get a filmy coating around it when I swirl the wine around? Does that mean that the wine is not good? It seems like this usually happens when I buy a wine on 'mega-sale'

You're expertise will be much appreciated!!

Thanks and happy tasting
Aimee

Welcome to the Wine Board, Aimee. Nothing to worry about with the wines. What you're seeing are what's called legs. They're caused by the glycerol in the alcohol, which formd the film. The fuller bodied, higher alcohol wines will have bigger legs. Also, you'll notice them more with red wines than with whites, just because the color makes them more visible.

Good info, KC! I've been wondering about this, too!
