My 30th birthday will be here before you know it, and I am interested in having a 76 wine or champagne. Though I would like to know which spirit would taste better a 76 wine or 76 champagne?
I like wine and champagne semi-sweet to taste.

Hi Diva, and welcome to the Wine Board. It would be difficult to find a wine or Champage form '76. However, a port would be a piece of cake. Go to wine-searcher.com and type in Porto, vintage 1976 and find many choices.

The 1976 BV Georges de Latour is an excellent wine still drinking well, it is periodically available through K&L Wine Merchants in Redwood City, Ca for a little over $100.
Generally 1976 was a good vintage in California, a mediocre to poor one for Bordeaux. Sauternes from 1976 are generally good, '75 was better, port would may be tough, '76 was generally not declared as a vintage.
There are a number of German Rieslings of the spatlese and sweeter variety that still should drink excellently, K&L would be an excellent source here as well.
My vintage champagne knowledge is limited, but I would guess there is some possibilites here as '76 was a decent vintage, finding one will be tough.

Hi Diva and erlcome to the board. Stealthman gave you the best advice. Other 76 Calif Cabs that are still alive, if stored well are Mayacamus, Heitz " Martha's Vineyard " And Diamond Creek " Volcanic Hill ". I had a botlle of Crystal 76 about 2-3 years ago and it seemed a little past its' prime. Happy BD coming on. WW

Thanks to all for your insight. Even though I have 3 more years until I reach 30 I wanted to get a head start on locating and purchasing the best.
