Hi!
How long does unopen wine last on the rack? I am still learing about wine. The wine(s)in question are: Ernest & Julio Gallo Twin Valley White Merlot,Twin valley cafe zinfandel, twin valley cafe chardonnay and others. I bought these wines over 6 months ago are they still good or should I toss them??

Well, E&J Gallo, who produces those wines, says the aging potential for what you bought is from 6 to 12 months. So, you be the judge if they're still good. Open them up and try them. You can check them out yourself at www.ejgtwinvalley.com.

am or pm?

The year on the bottles are 2002, I am wanting to take some of my bottles of wine with me when I go out of town for Christmas and I sure don't want to open these wines telling my family it is a good wine and they taste it and its gross! Understand what I am saying?

Are any of the people you're taking the wine to regular wine drinkers? All the Gallo Twin Valley wines are for "beginner" wine drinkers. They're priced about $7 a magnum for a reason - to entice non wine drinkers by their low price and their soft, sweet flavors. Generally speaking, more experienced wine drinkers would have moved on from that style.

Well they are mostly beer drinkers and they just wanted to drink wine this Christmas and I don't think they will be going to buy any wine after the holidays are over. I like these wines. Can't afford wine thats over 15.00. So I asked this question if they are any good or should they be tossed into the trash. The year on the bottles is 2002 and I am also bring them Missouri Wine-St.James and StoneHill wines.
