- Georgie - 02-21-2003 I'm making chicken marsala tonight and of course I bought some marsala wine to use. I'll like it in the dish, but I don't think I want to drink it along with. Any suggestions as to something else to drink? - Innkeeper - 02-21-2003 IMHO Marsala is for cooking, not for drinking, and if you do drink it as some do make it for dessert only. Not trying to slight Italian Whites, as I love them, but to handle the Marsala you need mucho gusto. Look for a Cotes Du Rhone Blanc. - Georgie - 02-21-2003 OK, IK, you know I'm new at this. I bought a 1997 Perrin reserve Cotes du Rhone Blanc for $9.99. I don't know if that's a good one to get or not, but I think it went very well with the chicken marsala. I can honestly say I enjoyed it! That's real growth for me as a wine drinker! Thanks as always for your good advice. I usually enjoy a local Pinot Noir- from Sakonnet Vineyards with chicken marsala. It is light and fruity, but would probably not be the choice for many others. My other choice is another Sakonnet wine- Vidal Blanc. Keep trying new things. With the able guidance of those on the board and your own sense of taste, you will have fun discovering what works for you.
