I'm making chicken marsala tonight and of course I bought some marsala wine to use. I'll like it in the dish, but I don't think I want to drink it along with. Any suggestions as to something else to drink?

IMHO Marsala is for cooking, not for drinking, and if you do drink it as some do make it for dessert only. Not trying to slight Italian Whites, as I love them, but to handle the Marsala you need mucho gusto. Look for a Cotes Du Rhone Blanc.

OK, IK, you know I'm new at this. I bought a 1997 Perrin reserve Cotes du Rhone Blanc for $9.99. I don't know if that's a good one to get or not, but I think it went very well with the chicken marsala. I can honestly say I enjoyed it! That's real growth for me as a wine drinker! Thanks as always for your good advice.

Georgie- if you enjoyed it, it's ok. Personal taste is key- a theme frequently discussed here. I usually enjoy a local Pinot Noir- from Sakonnet Vineyards with chicken marsala. It is light and fruity, but would probably not be the choice for many others. My other choice is another Sakonnet wine- Vidal Blanc. Keep trying new things. With the able guidance of those on the board and your own sense of taste, you will have fun discovering what works for you.
