- Live2Modify - 12-12-2003 So I know there are 10,000 answers to this, but I am so new to wine, and I am hoping to sort this out before dinner. The Meal: Grilled New York Strip Steak Steamed Green Beans w/ Herbed Butter Saffron Rice Dessert: Creme Caramel Now I know that there are so many factors to go with wine, and meals it is served with... And I can appreciate this (I'm cooking the dinner). However my wife wants wine with dinner and I have no clue. I promise that in the future I will learn more, but I need a quick fix if anyone can help. About me and her... Wine Novices! We won't know good from bad, but I want to learn. All that I know from my expericnce with spirits is that I have disliked a dry mouthfeel in other drinks (told the result of a chemical called "tannin" (Spelling?)). But I do enjoy certain Cognacs.
