- KristinS - 09-15-2002 Hi everyone! I don't know anything about wines. And not to offend anyone and to put it politely, I don't particularly care for wine. Anyhoo, I did have Principato Rosso at Olive Garden and loved it! You can't buy it anywhere that I know of. Does anyone know a wine that may taste similar? Here is what Olive Garden said about this wine: • Pleasantly fruity, semi-dry, and medium-bodied. • Made from a blend of regional varietal grapes including Merlot. • Specially bottled for Olive Garden in Trentino, Italy. Thanks everyone! Kristin - Innkeeper - 09-16-2002 Hi Kristin, and welcome to the Wine Board. Although made from different grapes, a wine with much the same characteristics is Reunite Lambrusco, which is avaiable just about everywhere wine is sold. - KristinS - 09-16-2002 Thank you Innkeeper! I am excited to try it! Kristin - thewoodman - 09-16-2002 Only at Olive Garden would you read with respect to an italian red "regional varietal grapes including Merlot" - Redneck_Wine'O - 10-06-2002 I am new to the art of wine tasting. What did you mean by this comment woodsman? Thanks, Jason - Kcwhippet - 10-07-2002 Redneck, I'll guarantee he said that because Merlot is more normally thought of as a French varietal. When you think Italian, varieties like Sangiovese, Barbera, Pinot Grigio, Moscato and such come to mind. - Thomas - 10-07-2002 Don't tell anyone, but Italians have been growing Merlot for more than 100 years. |
