Hey everyone I’m pretty new to wine and have a few questions. My fiancé will only drink sweet wine and I was wondering what are some good choices for sweet wine that are on the cheaper side. We drink a lot of beriengerr but we are in love with muscodine wine. Recently we had a bottle of Piesporter from Germany and really enjoyed it. What do you recommend we try? Also where are good places to buy online?

Hi KS69 and welcome to the board. Go to the Best Buys/ Real Deal thread and go back a year. There are lots of postings on muscats and sweet wines there. Good luck. WW

If the KY in your handle means you are from KY, you have rather strict laws about buying wine on-line. Since you enjoy Muscodine wine you must be somewhere in the South, and many other states in your region have the same complications as we do here in Maine too.

You should still be able to find good wines in your area. If I were you I would try to find out if your soulmate likes sweet wine or sweet tasting wines. There is a difference. Most wine is dry meaning that all the sugar has been turned to alcohol. Very ofter dry wines can have enough fruit upfront to taste "sweet." Try a Beaujolais Village and see how it goes. If not sweet enough you may have to go back to where you have been which is fine but with less opportunity.

Other wines that are actually sweet are Lambrusco for red, and most other Rieslings, and Chinin Blanc for whites. You might also try visiting local wineries. Most wineries east of the Rocky Mountains produce wine across the whole sweet/dry spectrum.

I would definately stick with Germany if you are looking for wines similar to Piesporter. The Germans make really nice Rieslings and Gewurtztraminers (Ge-vurtz-tra-meener)that you probably will like as well.

Also, you would like dessert wines. Many are really pricey, yet there are a few that are affordable. You can get some Sauternes for less than $20.00 per bottle.

Where are you located? If you have a nice wineshop around you they should be able to direct you.

Hope that helps.

Sweet wines can be fun to drink,it seems that you can buy them for a dinner party and you can be safe knowing that, some people that don't like wine general like sweeter wine. So here or some of my pic's

Covey Run Riesling (Wash State)
Sutter Home Muscato (Cal)
A fun one is Real Sangria
If you can get Missouri Wines Mt Pleasent make a Harvest Select Red and White
and last would be Folie A Duex Menage Red and White
