Hi,
My 81 year-old father recently asked me if I wanted a bottle of port that he was given as a gift in 1972. The seal reads as follows:

Vinho Do Porto Selo De Garantia
DX 741332

The neck label reads as follows:

Velha Companhia Majesta~~ca
Instituida Por Alvara Regio De 1756

The main label reads as follows:

Real Cia Velha
Instituida Por Alvara Regio Em 1756
{Logo}
Companhia Geral da Agricvltvra das Vinhas do Alto Dovro
Vila Nova De Gaia (Oporto) - Portugal
Vinho Do Porto
1937 Port
(Matured in Wood - Bottled in 1971)
O Vino do Porto e um vinho natural sujeito a criar deposito com a idade.
Recomenda-se que seja servido com o cuidado indispesavel para nao turvar.
Royal Oporto Wine Co.
Founded by Royal Charter in 1756

Is this worth drinking? I've read some comments that it wasn't a great port but a relative who also had a bottle said it was good when he drank his several years ago.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Aussiebloke and welcome to the board. Tho I'm not familiar with this producer I'd venture that if this bottle had proper storage it should make for a killer drink. GO FOR IT! WW
