hi everyone,i need to know if a 1999 chardonnay, santa barbara county, meridian brand is safe to drink.i was going to give it this year as a swap gift but i don't want to make anyone sick.i am a red wine novice drinker, and i have had this that long.it has been kept on it's side if that counts, lol.the color is a light blonde thats as best i can describe it,very clear,no sediment.i have been reading the post and i am looking forword to getting your help in the future as i luv dark wines and your knowledge is a great help.by the way just bought a bottle of black oak by wolf blass 2001.now how do i drink it.do i let it sit out of fridge, and can i put some in those little bottles someone mentioned, for another time?thank you for your help and time.sorry to dump so much for the first time.

Hi Nibblin, and welcome to the Wine Board. The Meridian Chardonnay is still drinkable so long as you haven't let it sit around in 80 degree temperatures. To drink the Wolf Blass, if it is in the fridge as you indicate, take it out, decant it if possible, at least open it, and let it set around for around for at least an hour.
