I just found out who he is, and read the online article that originally appeared in the Atlantic Monthly. What a fascinating story! One guy with an amazing nose, superhuman tastebuds, a computer memory, and totally uassailable sense of ethics has changed the world of wine. He reminds me of the main character in the Patrick Suskind's novel "Perfume" (except he's not a murderer).

Now I have to see the Mondovino documentary.

Parker's website is: http://www.erobertparker.com./

Mondovino is an excellent documentary. I think it may change your mind about Robert Parker. He may not be a murderer but some people think that his influence is killing the traditional wine producer in favor of a global/generic taste. I neither agree nor disagree on this, but surely is a very interesting issue.

I'm not a big fan. As far as his site is concerned you have to be very careful. One word that is interperted to be out of the mainstream, and they climb all over you.

Robr a word of caution. Don't believe all that is put to paper. He was one of the first wine writers to build an audience and following. Super-Human??? Not by the hair of your Chinny-Chin-Chin. Excellent, Yes. Wine was around for centuries before he arrived on the scene and will be here long after he's gone. He's influenced a lot of winemakers but for the better? You can get a lot of different views on this matter, nor will I addresss the matter of ethics. WW

I just saw Mondovino last night and posted under Rants and Raves.

My opinion of him has fallen since seeing the documentary.
