I have a bottle of 1990 Monterey County Cabernet Sauvignon Sea Otter Melody from The Monterey Vineyard.

My wife received this as a corporate gift about 10 years ago, and at the time I'm sure it was not a cheap bottle.

Is it worth anything, or should we pop it open to drink? Neither my wife and I are wine drinkers, but we have some close friends who are...

Thanks

Hi Notawineguy, and welcome to the Wine Board. Go ahead and invite your friends over and pop the baby. Should be fine, but not worth too much on the open market. Have a great Fourth of July.

Welcome Notta. You may get lucky, but the Cabs from Monterrey County until recently haven't held up. Open that sucker and give it a try. WW Just noticed you're from Scottsdale. I also live in Phoenix. Unless the bottle has been stored exteremly well there's not much hope. Our climate is very hard on the grape. ww

Thanks to both Innkeeper and Winoweenie. We'll pop the cork and see what it tastes like. And, no, it has not been stored well, other than in a cork-down position.
