Hello all! I need some help. I am an amateur wine maker from NJ and have hooked up with a local winemaker who runs a company called The Wine Experience. This group purchases garpes from Lodi, CA and brings them to NJ for wine making. They provide all the equipment and expertise for a nominal fee. My costs are basically the 50 gallon barrel, and all additional equipment and chemicals. I have some friends who have used this service in the past and the wines have been tremendous! My question surrounds grape selection. While my wife enjoys a good chardonnay, I am a bit more partial to reds that I can enjoy both with and without food. We are in the process of selecting our grapes and was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on what looks good in this years harvest. I was thinking about a Pinot Noir but am intrigued at the possibilities of a subtle blend. Any help would be sincerely appreciated!
