there is a website www.signaturewines.com, and I am trying to pick out a good merlot from them - but I do not know the first thing about merlot. I prefer sweeter white wines. I am getting married and we would like to give them out as gifts to our family with the personalized labels (which is why we are using this particular website). So any help or comments on how these wines are would be really appreciated!

A good p/q Merlot that you can find just about anywhere is Columbia Crest Grand Estates Merlot. I happen to like this with hamburgers. It comes from Washington State. Also, you might want to look into some Italian Merlots, specificlly from the Collio region.

Hi Jcrosie, and welcome to the Wine Board. I agree with Etherized. However if you have to go with that list period, I would pick the Chateau Ste Michelle.

Thanks for the info! It really helps. It looks like we will be going with the Chateau Ste Michelle 2000 Merlot. I'm glad I found this info board! It is a great tool!
