- Winequest - 10-22-2003 I am wanting to try red wine, but I am use to a fruity White or Blush wine. I have tried some red wines that are too bold and dry. I want to be able to go to dinner and order a red wine that I know I would like. Something on the fruity not so bold side. I have heard there is a combination wine, but I could definitely be wrong. I am looking for the red wine because less residual sugar and healthier than white and blush wines. - randery - 10-22-2003 Hi winequest, welcome to the board. Sounds like a Beaujolais Villages (France)could fill the bill for about $8. You may want to buy a bottle and try it at home instead of buying something for the first time in a restaurant. While you're at it, consider picking up a lambrusco or even a bardolino. Both of those are Italian wines. Have fun experimenting. - yabloka - 10-22-2003 I just tried the Toad Hollow Cacophony. It was lush and fruity, everything I hadn't experienced in a red wine, but a new and interesting twist for me. I paid $15 for the bottle, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. - wineguruchgo - 10-23-2003 Another wine you can try, when you are out, is Pinot Noir. This wine is very fruity. The Italian equivalent would be Valpolicella. You might like that as well. |
