Hello I do not know anything about wine but I would like to learn. I would like to give a good bottle of wine to my brother in law as a christmas present. He does like wine and he is very sophisticated. Any ideas?
Thank you

Welcome, Ral,

Tell us if...
he likes whites or reds and the type,eg:
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling etc. and a price point.

Drew

I'm sorry I did not include more details. I do not know the difference between Sauvignon, Merlot or Cabernet. All I know is that he likes red and white wine. As far as the price $150.00 is my limit. Any ideas?.

RAL,

Welcome to the Wine Board. There's nothing in your profile that tells us where you're at. If you had included that, chances are one of us might have been able to give you a wine shop that could probably help you.

Sorry Ral, but you just narrowed it down to several tens of thousands choices. If you want the recipiant to enjoy the wine sometime soon, I would not pay $150 or evern $75 for it, because wines of that caliber usually have to be aged out over many years. Recommend you try to find out where he buys his wine and ask the proprietor for recommendations. Another approach would be to find out the kinds of foods he likes to eat or favorite dishes, and ask any reputable retailer for ideas. For $150 you might even be able to get a case of a nice wine.
