- Rebecca Lee - 08-29-2005 I love a light, fruity (blackberry, raspberry, currant)red wine--with a hint of vanilla or chocolate, I am in heavan. (Good grief, that sounds like a dessert, doesn't it?!) When I find a wine I like, I cling to it like a life raft. Naturally, the following year's offering is not always the same. Then, I am once again set adrift to find a wine to my liking. Too much to choose from and not enough knowledge, that's my problem. Any ideas or suggestions? - hotwine - 08-29-2005 A price point would help us focus suggestions, RL. Less than $10? Less than $20? Less than $40? For example, you might try a Coppola Rosso, a blend of 49% Zinfandel, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Syrah, for all of about $10 as I recall. Try to identify the flavors you like in that blend and those you don't like, and maybe we can guide you from there. - Rebecca Lee - 08-29-2005 You know, I did try a Coppola red label Diamond Series that I thought was terrific. But when I tried another bottle that I thought was the same wine, it was entirely different--different year? I recall I paid about $15-$16 per bottle...so less than $20. I don't like wine that is too casky or oaky. I don't like a wine that coats my palate. Thanks, HW. I'll take your suggestion and report back. |
