Someone recently gave my wife a bottle of Spanish wine. It's Reserva 1998 u.r.p.r.d. Estola." I'm not sure how it was stored by the person who gave it to us, but we've kept it our dining room on our wine rack for a few weeks.

1. Does anyone know anything about this wine?
2. Would it be any good?
3. Is there any value to this wine?

First of all, welcome to this humble little group! Please do come back and let us know what this bottle tasted like!

I did a quick search on the net for you and found that it probably is not sold in the US. It appears to be an inexpensive (sub $7 USD) bottle despite the Reserva name. And oh the definition of reserva has to do with the length of time it spends with the owners (winery)

The terms used are crianza, reserva and gran reserva, which refers to the length of time the wine has been aged.

Crianza: has spent one year in oak barrels.

Reserva: aged for at least three years in the cask and bottle, at least one of which must have been in the cask

Gran Reserva: aged for five years, two years in oak and three years in the bottle.

That said, it is not a general indication of quality, just aging time. Hope that helps and come back often!
