Hi,

I read that the French have recognised Chile as having perhaps the best growing conditions in the world for Cabernet Sauvignon based reds. Wondering if anyone has tried the top of the line Franco-Chilean JV wines - "Almaviva", "Clos Apalta", or the Mondavi-Chilean JV "Seña"?

Hi Warren, and welcome to the Wine Board. Haven't tired any of those, but have enjoyed several vintages of Baron Philippe De Rothschild, Escudo Rojo. It is the first and heretofor only Chilian wine we gotten excited about.

Thanks Innkeeper, Keep an eye out for these - they retail at around $70 a bottle, but Wine Spectator has rated them highly - especially 1999 Clos Apalta which if I remember correctly received 94 points on their rating.
