Drew

Merged? When? and with who?

Do you know when to give white wine or red wine? (time, place and situation)

- yonscun_lie - 09-13-2003

When It's merging?

- Innkeeper - 09-13-2003

They merged a couple of years ago and promptly went bankrupt. The inventory was sold off for pennys on the dollar with savy collectors and retailers, such as a couple on this board, making a killing. The "new" wine.com has risen from those ashes. Don't know if the folks now running it have any relationship to those who used to. They will not go out of business for not charging enough. Most of their prices can be beat by other on-line retailers.

As far as your other question is concerned, you give red or white wines based on the person(s)' preferences, and what you know they might be eating or otherwise doing with it.

The same nefarious fellers who bankrupt the operation in the 1st place are, SUPRISE, now "Consulting".If a retailor doesn't have bricks and mortar they have no chance of enny of the weeners money. WW

Sorry, I mean :

In some country, like china (only in several village). Red Wine is for happyness, White Wine is more used in monastry or cruch (something like that).

I wonder if each country have "a tradition" like that or have another one?

Hm....my lecture always say about the success story of virtual vineyards, i bet his face will turn to red if I tell him Virtual Vineyards is bankrupt hahaha.

But I am a little surprise, Virtual Vineyards Can bankrupt.

Hi again Yon. If you think you're surprised think of all the people who lost hundreds of thousands of dollars buying 2000 Bordeaux futures from this outfit. WW

In most civilized places people choose wine based on the food they are going to eat or the occassion they are going to celebrate.

Virtual Vineyards burned through several rounds of $20M plus venture capital funding. When they went under, the domain name Wine.com was sold to an outfit in Oregon called EVineyard. They currently operate the site.

I am sorry winoweenie, I don't mean to hurt you really.

Oh ya, during my search (traking the vineyards's asses or at last the last pieces of vineyards)

I found 2 websites :
1. virtualpin.com
2. virtualvineyards.com
3. wine.com
OK, Look like all of them belong to virtual vineyards. Why this company has 3 website?

Oh ya, need suggestion. I will decor a party. it's for 10 people (I don't know what kind wine each person like). How much wines I must to buy? for now I plan to buy 10 wines (4 red and 6 white) it's good choice?

- winoweenie - 09-19-2003

No apologies needed. I have never bought a dimes worth of wine from the web. That's what my post about bricks and mortar meant. Have some friends who, goodness knows why except to save 2%, lost over 50,000 U.S. buying 2000 Bordeaux futures from these bandits. To rub salt into their wounds they were given 1st chance to buy the same wines again at the same price. Talk about Garbonzo Beans! Anywhoos, the amount and type of wine for your party sounds perfect to me. Have fun. WW
