I am new to wines and over the past year or so have found myself ordering or buying it more often instead of my usuals. And I think I would enjoy wine tasting as a hobby, if it could be classified as such. I have been following the message boards and I am totally lost on most subjects. What would you recommend the easiest and simplest way to learn about wines and the different kinds of wines. I dont know a Chardonay from a Cabernet.

Hi, bryj27 from Omaha. Welcome to the board. I'm originally from Lincoln. Sorry it seems to be a rebuilding year for the Cornhuskers.
Andrea Immer has a book of organized tastings that is quite helpful for a beginner. It is called "Great Wine Made Simple." Read the description of it on the www.amazon.com website and I think you might find it worthwhile. You might also look into the book "Wine for Dummies" which has a lot of basic information and is worth consulting even for those of us with a little more wine drinking experience. Wines have become a fun (and expensive!) hobby for me. Hope you develop the same enthusiasm.

Albeit, it has been fifteen years since we lived there, but there was an excellent wine store in the Westroads Mall that held regular wine tastings, that we attended regularly though we lived in Bellevue.
