Trust me: Jesus would have loved good yet cheap wine of any sort. The four gospel writers were always talking about enjoying "good stuff," yet at the same time frowned about conspicuous consumption (rich men having as much chance of getting into heaven as a camel through a needle, etc.).

The fact is, parishes around the world use just about any wine they can find for sacramental purposes. Depends on local tastes, habits, availability, and of course, price. The Lord probably doesn't mind. He probably does mind, however, the unfermented grape juice that gets passed off as "holy wine" in some churches (which shall go unnamed). Even His imagination stretches only so far.

If you doubt me, ask any priest.
