I bought up the very last two bottles of Spätburgunder in this state...and the state buyers have decided not to renew their order anymore. It is the 2003 Affentaler Baden Spätburgunder (the monkey wine). I don't know if this particular wine is a good representative of german pinot noir or not, but it was my only choice. I read that Spätburgunders should be slightly chilled before serving...is this true?

Have always considered cellar temp to be appropriate serving temp for that juice. That's "slightly chilled" in most folks' lexicon.

Not familiar with that particular wine but Baden is known for production of Spatburgunders so there is a chance that it will be a nice dinner wine.

I read that German producers are making more of this now than they ever have before, due to unusually warm weather, among other factors. I wonder why it's not more popular here? I can barely find it where I live!
