I am attending a steak dinner this evening and would like to bring wine. The host likes red wine and I like sweet wines. Is there a wine that is the best of both?

No, not to go with beef anyway.

What do you suggest to go with such a dinner?

Hi Kdog, and welcome to the Wine Board. Try to find a Cru Beaujolais called Moulin-A-Vent in vintage 1998, 1999, or 2000 in that order.
It is heavy enough to handle the steak, and will still taste somewhat sweet to you.

Thank you for the suggestions. I am not only new to wines, but also to chat rooms. This has been a good experience. I have compiled a list of different wines to try from others conversation and am looking forward to experimenting. Again thank you.

Another option would be a good Rose' from the south of France like a Tavel... Keep on tasting - different things till you find what you like.

Cheers!
