Hi Guys, i was hoping that you guys could help me out. i am very new to wine and would like to find out what are the basic differences between the different types. Eg: cab sav, merlot, chardonnay etc. If there is anyone out there with some time to spare i would greatly appreciate the help. Cheers

Hi Metro, and welcome to the Wine Board. There are many good books on the subject available, but am not sure what is available over there. One that I have and refer to regularlay, and covers the tasting differences between wines of various grapes was published in England. It should be available there in book stores or librarys. Talking about "Essential Winetasting" by Michael Schuster. It was published by Mitchell Beazley Ltd in 2000. The ISBN is 1-84000-205-0.

Hi Innkeeper, nice to meet you. I will try to get a hold of that one. Thanks for the help.

How is it in your part of the world?

We are enjoying a very "moderate" summer, that is downright chilly from time to time.

Yeah its pretty cold here as well, we are in the 2nd half of winter now so not too much longer until spring gets here. I cant wait for summer as the fishing is much better then. Do you fish?

Metro, I believe Andrea Immer's "Great Wine Made Simple" is available there. Check the website at broadwaybooks.com
