After much ongoing pressure from my good friends BigRedWine and the wine legend Winoweenie, I have finally made the giant step of venturing onto “THE BOARDâ€â€¦Although I fear anything this amateur wino has to say may be trite and very amusing to all, I suppose I have cowered in the wine board shadows long enough…I have gotten a lot of great input from the wine experts who hang around here…I will try to shut up most of the time and only speak when I am pretty sure what I have to say is not too far off the bubble…So, like I often have been known to say, “Don’t be a dork, pull the cork!!!…

LIB!!!! Lo after these meeny eons of cajooling, cuddling, carousing, and cursing the mighty CD has deiogned to join our lil' ole' comfy circle. I can assure you this dude be neither a dork nor a passive cork puller. BigRedWines, the Dork and meeself had lubnch today and 4(FOUR) bottles mysteriously dissappeared and had I not have had an unbreakable committment to take my big boy kitty in for his 6-month we would have had a 5th(That's only 750ml right?) The durable duo were determined to treat so they brought 2 mystery wines they were sure I hadn't had the pleezue of afore and boy were they right. The 1st was a 2000 Napa cab that has to be the hallmark for all 2000s. Brite ruby with cinnamon,clove,cedar, red and black fruits and vanilla highlights that absiol;utely assailed the nose. The 2nd was the same vineyard in the 2001 model that took all of the above to the highest level possible for this tired ole' schnozz. Explosive is the only adjective I can use to describe the mouthfeel. Both wines hit the magic 5-Lapper zenith and thats' all I can do on the judging as I have no earthly ideer of the price(BUT i can assure you it 'haint in the Glen Ellen range) but the front end of the scoring is 97 for the 2000 and 99-100 for the 2001. I do know the fearsome duo picked these up on their foray into Napa in Nov.( Which may account for the conumers price index for that county rising 73% above the average of all Calif counties that month) WW [img]http://wines.com/ubb/wink.gif[/img]

WW, you aren't going to tell us what producer is responsible for the lovely 2000 and 2001 Napa cabs? Do they have to remain mystery wines forever?
BTW, friends of mine are in the new home they built in Tucson (lovely house and setting from the photos on their Christmas card--some people get organized early!) so maybe some day I will visit Arizona and include both Tucson and Phoenix areas.

WOW...What an experience...To see WW's lapper lappin' so fast he was unable to form words for what seemed like 15 minutes at a time was an awesome thing to watch for BigRedWine and me...WW didn't mention the 97 Anderson's Conn that started the day or the baby 03 Eloge that was number two of the four...both wines built to perfection with lots of time available in the cellar for the remaining bottles if they survive...
But, watching WW wrap his lapper around the 2000 and 2001 mystery wine was worth the price of admission...Both BRW and myself have been the recipient of so many WW wine treats that it was great to be able to contribute to his flapping lapper this time...CD [img]http://wines.com/ubb/biggrin.gif[/img]
