Hi,

I've always been a keen wine drinker, mostly of wines upto £20 (about $30) but would appreciate some opinions on my choice of a more expensive case to lay down/invest. This will be the first one of what I hope will be many.

My research has been directed by budget and a personal liking for Bordeaux. It is Vieux Chateau Certan 1995. I can buy a case for £622.20. The (web) research shows the year to be good. The price seems to compare well with similar wines and BBR in the UK describe it as being in limited supply. I've never had a bottle of this Chateau myself. I think I would be looking to keep it 5-10+. I would probably keep a couple of bottles for myself.

Cherrio there SammyD and welcome to the board. VCC is a marvelous Pomerol but for the money and what you're going to do I'd buy futures of the 2000 vintage. This is a great vintage, you don't yet have to pay the appreciation , and there are a lot of super wines for the money. The VCC 2000 is selling over here on futures for 100-110 per and is rated 95-100. WW

Thanks for the advice, this is all new to me. I'll investigate where I can get it in the UK. Sam.
