Another question already? I know, I am a very presumptuous new member...

The wine store I have been going to up to this point has a huge selection of wines and they are stored side-ways in racks, but it is definitely not 55 degrees in there and who knows on the humidity. Now, I have purchased some fairly expensive bottles from there for ageing, and put them in my properly maintained wine storage cabinet. I asked one of the wine guys there, an older guy who seemed fairly knowledgeable, and he said he has been storing wine in a rack under his stairs in his basement since 1971 and only ever had one bad bottle. I guess I am just wondering how much of a difference the storage condition of the wine in store makes if it will then be stored properly for 10 or 20 years? Any thoughts appreciated.

THANKS !!

Unless the wines have been there for some time, you shouldn't have any concern about this storage. Short term storage is negligable. WW
