Looking for some ratings on a 1997 Chateau Bel Air Haut Medoc. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Deborah and welcome to the board. 97 was a very usable vintage but not great. The Medoc was a little less successful than other areas. All of the wines except a few from the Pomerol and St. Emillion are early drinkers. Didn't buy any 97s' so don't have any 1st hand experience with the Bel Aire but imagine it needs to be drunk early. Good luck. WW

Thanks WW,
The wine is waiting for me in Kodiak, Alaska. My husband, son and I will be heading to AK in the next few weeks and a friend up there found this bottle in his wine cellar and asked if I knew any history on it. I'll let you know how it held up after a sip or two. Regards, D

ww is correct about the vintage. Bel Air is a reasonable producer, stable and sometimes wonderful.
