In general, should one not buy a wine that has a plastic cork?

False assumption, Joey. Many producers are going to plastic, for a lot of reasons. Most of them work just fine.

I think all wineries should go to synthetic corks... I'm tired of corked wines. Had one the other night, one of may favs. '98 Chateau de la Negly.

Joey, some of the premium wineries are even going to SCREW-CAPS on their top wines. WW

Which ones?

Ran into my first reconstituted cork the other night when I popped the Staley Mourvedre. Kind of like the stuff they put over the studs on houses these days instead of instead of regular plywood. It was easier to open than some of the plastic ones I've run into. Like some of plastic corks it tended to rotate inside the neck, and had to be horsed out the last inch or so.
