Thanks again to everyone for your wonderful suggestions. Even if i couldn't find the exact wine suggested,I used the examples to help me choose similar wines. I thought you might be interested in the chardonnays i chose.
Here goes...

1.saint-pourcain blanc, 2000 $10.00 2.valanges macon davaye, 2000 $12.00
3.clos julien chard, 2000 $13.50
4. (My Favorite, by far) Pinson Chablis, Mont de milieu, 1999 $22.00
5. Rincon, Talley Vineyards, chard 1999 $40.00
6.Yellow Tail,SE Australia, 2000 $5.99
7. Armida, Russian River Valley,1999 12.99 8.chateau de Rully, 1999 14.99

Uh, as far as tasting notes goes...mine are kind of sparse. I will say that i was thoroughly unimpressed with the $40.00
Chard from Talley Vineyards. Maybe it needed some age? I dunno, it was medium to light bodied, very light golden color, and heavily oaked which dominated the fruit flavors. Was
there something subtle i missed? (possibly)Is it that i prefer unoaked chardonnays? (probably) But ultimately, I dunno.

I purchased all the wines in Delaware at either Moore Brothers or Total Wine on naamans road. (i live in philly, and try to avoid the PLCB as much as possible.)

The tasting went fantastically well. We did a blind tasting. I put each bottle in a numbered paper bag, pored from the hidden bottles and did a unveiling at the end. What Fun!

That's the low down. Thanks to you all.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Glad it went well. Perhaps you are an oakaphobe like most of us versus an oakaphile. Oak is fine in full bodied reds with multiple dimensions, and I can even take it in cocktail chardonnay or sauvignon. But oaky whites with food, turn my stomach.

yes, it's true. I find too much goddamn oak can be really unappealing. But at the forty dollar price range, from Talley vineyards, unfiltered and shipped at 55 degrees and stored at 55 degrees, I figured that it might wow me, considering how cared for it was.

oh well

...illustrates the unimportance of price when it comes to taste...

You live in Philly and shop in Delaware......!!

Avoid a lot of taxes that way! If you are an Eagles fan, now that the Ravens (I'm a Ravens fan, but not dyed-in-the-wool) are out of the way and the Raiders (Rich Gannon is from Delaware) are out of the way, I'm back to being an Eagles fan....... Go EAGLES.

I'm a native Delawarean, so when you mentioned the home state, my ears perked-up. Total Wine has made it to Delaware? Oh, how I dislike that store. They are here in Virginia Beach and they are terrible. My understanding is that they are home-based in Maryland. I've heard the Moore Brothers is pretty good, but have not been there yet.

My parents live in Newark, so I usually go to a place called State Line Liquors in Elkton, Maryland since it is close to Newark and prices are lower than Delaware, even with the Maryland sales tax considered.

Glad your tasting went well. Sounds like it was an interesting time for all.

As IK knows, I could not agree with him and with you more about Oak and Chardonnay. They are a combination that really do not belong together at all....... I am not surprised, then, that you liked the Chablis best of all.........

If you'd like to try a very nice Chardonnay without feeling like you're chewing on an oak floor board, try the Kim Crawford Unoaked Chardonnay from New Zealand. We've been finding that a lot of people have pretty much had it with the oak monsters, so we've been suggesting the Kim Crawford. Now we're havng a tough time keeping it in stock.

ah, the kim crawford, yes someone actually told me about that one before. I tried to find it for the tasting, but there were none to be found.

Maybe next time. thx for the suggestion.
