- fastpitch - 11-06-2001 Hi, I am a wine newbie. I am wanting to serve a variety of wines for Thanksgiving. I thought that would be an ideal time to start. What 4 or 5 varieties should I consider? I am thinking about a Zin, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, mavbe a Sauvignon Blanc and whatever else anyone suggests. I would like to keep spending at around $8-15 a bottle. Unless there is a variety everyone thinks I need to add and it costs more. I did pick up a Bogle 99 Zin and a Concha y Toro Xplorador 2000 chardonnay. I don't know if those were wise choices or not. I would like 3-4 choices for each variety since we don't have the greatest wine selection. Am i asking for too much? Duane - mrdutton - 11-06-2001 Add a Beaujolais Nouveau and a Riesling to your list. Thanksgiving tables are so eclectic that trying to match a wine with the fare is difficult. The Gewurtz would be fine, in my humble opinion as would be the two suggested above. |
