- skogkatt - 11-25-2003 Stopped by a discount grocery store tonight and noticed an abundance of 2001 Paul Thomas red and white table wine. Both at about $5.00 a bottle. I looked at the Paul Thomas web site but didn't see it listed. Has any one tried it? If so, what did they think of it. Thanks - Thomas - 11-25-2003 If they are 2001 vintage, it could mean the retailer is trying to get rid of what he/she could not sell. I have had Paul Thomas wines in the past (haven't had any in over 3 years) and found them reasonably good. But then, their 2001 wines may or may not have been good. Our resident Bucko might have better input for you. I tried the white with turkey left overs and found it to be a very drinkable wine for dinner. The red also good (even with my choc. chip cookie), I liked it better than the C. Shaw Cab. and Chard. from TJs. Question?? I don't see either wine on the Paul Thomas web site, nor do the labels indicate what they are. Is this the result of over production and a blend of reds and whites? - Bucko - 12-03-2003 Sorry, I barely find the regular Paul Thomas quaffable. I never heard of "red and white." - Kcwhippet - 12-03-2003 Sounds like the vinous equivalent of the Black and Tan. - skogkatt - 12-04-2003 Whoops, sorry about the confusion, PaulThomas offers both, a Red Table wine and a White Table wine. Question: if these are the result of over production, are they generally a blend of different grape varieties, or are they from one grape variety? And, the only place I've seen it is at this particular grocery outlet. |
