Sorry for posting twice in a row, but I have one quick question. What is the best way to remove wine labels from the bottles? I like to keep the labels for my wine book, but I haven't found an easy way to get them off the bottle. Thanks ahead for any suggestions.

Can't say if it's the "best" way.... I simply lay the bottle in the laundryroom sink label-side up and let hot water flow onto the label to loosen the glue. About 30 seconds of that is usually enough. If not, repeat. Then overlay the label with clear contact paper, peel off the label and paste it into your cellarbook.

Yeah, as Hotwine mentioned there is no real best way as it is so very dependent on the glue used, how its been stored and how long it's been on the bottle. I've been able to get labels off by just peeling them from the bottle on newer vintages to using high heat from my embossing gun for older bottles.
I second the idea of buying clear contact paper over the expensive single sheets that wine shops offer, a waste of money that could go towards more wine, he's given you a very good suggestion! Good luck!

The only reliable way we can get a label off the a bottle is to put in our high humidity celler for about ten years. Most of our long term agers have the labels stuck on with Scotch Tape.
