When visiting Europe in 1994 I picked up several bottles of red wine for my wife. One of the bottles we put away in the wine cabinet and have not opened. It is a bottle of Carruades De Lafitte Rothschild Pauillac 1988. Is this a good wine, is it still good after sitting up for six years, and what is its value? I would appreciate your help.
Thanks!

It started out fine. The six years of uprightness could certainly be a problem. This would be a good time to drink it if it is OK. Plan an event, buy a backup just in case, and pop the cork. If it comes out so quickly that you pull your arm out, there may be a problem. Current vintages of this wine sell for around $30.00.
