- Betsea - 01-10-2004 I am stuck in a Rut of Moet White Star. Any other $30-$40 range bottles of bubbly you all would recommend to try? Thanks - Kcwhippet - 01-11-2004 Welcome to the WineBoard, Betsea. How about trying Laurent-Perrier, Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin or Roederer Brut. - wineguruchgo - 01-11-2004 I couldn't agree more! LP is my favorite Champagne! Espically the Demi Sec. Full bottle should be around $35.00 and it's made in 1/2 bottles also. Why not buy a few 1/2 bottles and do a tasting? Gotta love the bubbles! - Drew - 01-11-2004 Here's some more right around your price point. L. Aubry et Fils Rene' Geoffroy P. Gimonnet Gastronome Pierre Gimonnet et Fils Legras Billecart Salmon Egly-Ouriet Tradition Lenoble P. Moncuit Piper Heidesieck Louis Roederer Taittinger Drew - amw5g - 01-11-2004 If you can find it- Philliponat. Our fave around that price, but sometimes difficult to track down. -Andrew - Thomas - 01-11-2004 My recollection is that White Star is on the sweet side--if so, you should look for Champagnes with the words "dry" or "extra dry" on the label--they are sweeter than brut style. - Betsea - 01-11-2004 Thank you sooo much for the suggestions! You have made my day! Now I don't have to swig away on Champagnes that taste like Cold Duck but come in a prettier package until I find the right one.... |
