Hi,

I was curious as to whether or not anyone has ever had any wines from Alto Pass Vineyards and if so, what is your opinion of them?

And in a more general sense, what is your opinion of the wines from the midwestern states of Missouri and Southern Illinois?

The only wines I've had from Illinois have been on the sweeter side- Brown County. If you like that kind of wine, they were good.

Stone Hill, from Hermann MO, produces a few truly good products. This winery's roots go back to the commercial beginning of wine in the U.S., which began in Ohio and Missouri.

Let's also not forget that it was Missouri that initially helped break the phylloxera louse in Europe with its "native" vines.

A distinguished member of this board, who attended a wine tasting in Indianapolis last year, informed moi that he tasted a very nice Chardonel from Alto Pass. Hope to stop by there on a future trip.
