I know it’s not common to see a bottling of 100% Petit Verdot, but there’s at least one producer in Washington that makes one (never had it), so I’m wondering:

What the flavor profile of Petit Verdot is?
If anyone’s had one before?
And what would a good recommendation be?

Thanks

My only experience was with Viader's "V" bottling. It is 72% Petit Verdot • 25% Cabernet Sauvignon • 3% Cabernet Franc. Very floral with a georgeus nose and long finish. I haven't had enough to have a flavor profile come to mind. I just remember light fruit and that floral nose that jumped from the glass.

Triple H, I've only drank 2 100% Petit Verdot wines and both are from Australia,
Craneford and Pirramimma. Both enjoyable and made well but don't expect complexity. Petit Verdot, with these two wines displays deep color and shows intense blackberry flavors with hints of dark chocolate. Somewhat similar to merlot but with higher acidity and more tannins. Petit Verdot is a late ripening, very small in size, blending grape in Bordeaux. Australia has been experimenting with this varietal in recent years.

I last had a Petit Verdot about 10 years ago from Reverie up on Diamond Mountain. As I recall, it was a bit similar to Drew's experience - very dark in the glass, a bit spicy, chocolate, cherry. The Weener must know the folks at Reverie since thay share that part of the world with Von Strasser and Diamond Creek.

I'm not a fan of Petite other than as a blending grape. I find it too one dimensional and uninteresting. I've also had the Piramimma and tho pleasurable, is not my cuppa' tea. WW
